The book, The Trouble with Magic, by Madelyn Alt is not worth reading. There, I've said it..I didn't love it, therefore I don't feel like I could recommend it. You know me, always a mystery lover, but it wasn't as thought provoking or as enjoyable as I thought. (The witch part wasn't bad and nothing satanic.)
